Spears and swords and shields. Oh my!

Mon Nov 2, 2009, 8:26 AM
Ach, so I bugger off for a few days to get an assignment out of the way and you guys bump the gradually diminishing back log of deviations up again. That's just not playing fair.

I continue with my quest to reduce the numbers to a more reasonable amount but I fear I may be a little distracted again since, not only do I have to start work on the next essay, I also had my first Old Norse preparatory class today. Yay, I get to read passages about Vikings having shiny helmets (ahem). And sharp swords. It's pretty cool really though having to fork out another forty quid on the necessary books did tick me off a little bit. Beats the Georgic poetry I ahev to brush up on for Friday - mmm poems about farming in the 18th century, nice.

So busy, busy me is off to study (after checking out a couple of your fine deviations) who knows when I will re-emerge...

  • Listening to: My Piepod set to shuffle
  • Reading: An Old Norse Glossary and some Georgic poetry
  • Watching: Nothing, forgotten what a TV looks like.
  • Playing: At being a grown up
  • Eating: The sad remains of the Halloween sweets
  • Drinking: Yorkshire Tea, like tea used to bed

Thankyou so much for the fav on Haiku Theory. I am glad you enjoyed it. Are you interested in writing haiku yourself, or do you just enjoy reading them. I was just curious.

Have a great day,
Dick from Solar

Hi, I've always been interested in haiku but never really known how to get started, I'm hoping to have a go soon and this will really help me get into it.

Great - I am glad. There is a haikuwrimo coming up if you are interested. A bunch of poets get together and write a haiku poem each, every day for a month. We have a lot of people join - from beginners all the way to more experienced haiku poets. It is a lot of fun. It's run by IscariotPriest and you can see his journal entry about it here: [link] if you are interested. You just have to leave a comment to tell him you're joining and you're in. It is always a lot of fun.

Thanks for the lovely comment!
